A tool retainer has an important job, keeping your point or chisel in the hammer. A Tool retainer needs to be heat-treated properly or breakage can occur. Oftentimes, your tool retainer should not need replacing unless you are blank-firing the tool. We recommend keeping this to a minimum to minimize repair costs. Mis-using the breaker by Blank-firing leads to broken tools, tool retainers, bushings, and other problems.
