A tool retainer has an important job, keeping your point or chisel in the hammer. A Tool retainer needs to be heat-treated properly or breakage can occur. Often, your tool retainer should not need replacing unless you are firing the tool blank. We recommend you keep this to a minimum to keep repair costs low. Misusing the breaker by Blank-firing leads to broken tools, tool retainers, bushings, and other problems.
